Yes, it happened. Not only ball hit the commentary box but it also broke the glass.
It happened when Australia went to Zimbabwe for tri-series . It was the first match of tri-series on
25th August 2014 in Harare.
Johnson
came to bat when Australia's score was 317 for 6. Only 14 balls were
left. So Johnson knew that he had nothing to lose, so he started
striking every ball with his enormous power.
So
he hit a six which went straight into the commentary box. Of course,
commentary box was protected with glass but the ball hit the glass with
so power that it broke it and some pieces of glass hit the commentators.
Mitchell Johnson made 20 runs in 10 balls in that match.
